Zimbabweans took to social media to celebrate Mugabe’s resignation on Tuesday evening with the hashtag #MugabeResigns. Many posted memes of packed pickup trucks and stacked suitcases, saying that Zimbabweans living in South Africa and elsewhere were finally coming home. Others shared gifs of people dancing and walking in on red carpets, arriving at the #MugabeIsOverParty.
The peaceful removal of Robert Mugabe from power by the Zimbabwe Army should be celebrated throughout Africa.
Zimbabwe, allow us to celebrate with you. It’s truly enviable. #mugaberesigns
